None of the steps below cost anything, and they matter whether or not you buy a pack. A pack tunes a system that is already healthy; it cannot compensate for a year-old GPU driver or a laptop that is thermally throttling. Work through this list first.
Graphics drivers ship performance and stability fixes constantly, and an old driver can measurably hold a game back.
A PC with pending updates is often downloading and installing in the background while you play. Open Settings, go to Windows Update, install everything pending, and restart until nothing is left. An up-to-date system is also the baseline our packs are built against.
On desktops, use the Balanced or High performance power plan — avoid power-saver modes for gaming. On laptops, plug in while playing and set the power mode to Best performance; battery-saver modes cap CPU and GPU clocks hard, and no settings tuning can outwork that cap.
Everything running in the background competes with your game for CPU, RAM, and disk. Open Task Manager's Startup apps tab and disable entries you recognize and do not need at boot. Before a session, close browsers with many tabs, chat overlays, and updater clients.
Be conservative: only disable things you can identify. Leave anything unfamiliar alone rather than guessing.
Drives slow down as they fill, and games stutter when the drive they load from is nearly full. Keep meaningful free space on the drive your game is installed on — a common rule of thumb is at least 10 to 15 percent — and install competitive games on an SSD if you have one.
When a CPU or GPU overheats it throttles: clocks drop until temperatures recover, often in the middle of a fight. If performance degrades after 20 to 30 minutes of play, heat is the first suspect. Clean dust filters and fans, make sure case airflow is not blocked, and on laptops avoid soft surfaces that cover the intakes.
